- Angioedema is swelling underneath the surface of the skin
- Most commonly affects the face, throat, hands, and feet though can develop in other areas of the body as well
- Throat swelling may be a life-threatening reaction and requires immediate medical attention
- Angioedema can occur with or without hives and can be due to an allergic reaction or due to underlying disorders and conditions
